Lesson Content

1. Jesus sat in God's house and watched people putting their money into the offering box (Mark 12:41).

2. Rich people came and put in lots and lots of coins. They wanted everyone to see how much they gave (Mark 12:41).

3. Then came a poor widow — a lady whose husband had died. She had only two tiny coins, worth less than a penny. She put in both of them (Mark 12:42).

4. Jesus called His disciples and said, "This poor widow gave more than all the rich people!" (Mark 12:43).

5. The rich gave only a little bit of their plenty, but she gave everything she had, because she loved God with all her heart (Mark 12:44).

Talk about it: It's not how much we give that matters to God — it's the love in our heart when we give.

Moral

God does not look at how much we give but at our heart. He loves it when we give cheerfully and generously, like the poor widow.

Memory Verse

“God loveth a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians 9:7
