Lesson Content
1. Goliath was a giant soldier, taller than anyone you have ever seen. Every day he shouted at God's people, and everyone was afraid of him (1 Sam. 17:4-11).
2. David was just a shepherd boy who took care of his father's sheep. He came to the camp to bring food to his big brothers (1 Sam. 17:17-20).
3. When David heard Goliath making fun of God's people, he was not afraid. He said, "God helped me before, and He will help me now!" (1 Sam. 17:34-37).
4. David did not wear armour or carry a sword. He took only his sling and five smooth stones from the stream (1 Sam. 17:40).
5. David said to Goliath, "You come with a sword, but I come in the name of the LORD!" He slung one stone, and the giant fell down (1 Sam. 17:45-49).
Talk about it: When something feels too big and scary for us, who can we always trust to help?
Moral
We don't need to be big or strong when God is with us. When we trust God, He gives us courage to face even the biggest problems.
Memory Verse
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
Psalm 56:3
