Lesson Content

1. Samuel was a little boy who lived in God's house and helped the old priest Eli (1 Sam. 3:1).

2. One night, while Samuel was sleeping, he heard a voice call his name: "Samuel! Samuel!" (1 Sam. 3:4).

3. Samuel ran to Eli and said, "Here I am!" But Eli had not called him. This happened three times (1 Sam. 3:5-8).

4. Then Eli understood that it was God calling the little boy. He told Samuel to answer, "Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth" (1 Sam. 3:9).

5. God called again, and Samuel answered just as Eli had taught him. God spoke to Samuel, and Samuel listened (1 Sam. 3:10).

Talk about it: God speaks to us too — through the Bible, our parents and teachers. Are we quick to listen and obey?

Moral

Even a small child can hear and obey God. When God speaks, we should listen just like little Samuel did.

Memory Verse

“Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth.”

1 Samuel 3:9
